A Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, July 26, at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds, for Jay Adamson, 57, of Jefferson.
The Rev Cathy Van Gundy of Panora will offer words of comfort. Laura Minnihan will be soloist. Honorary bearers will be Jim Adamson, Tom Thornton, Bill Gebhart, Richard Kennedy, Roger Wessling and Craig Brelsford.
Interment will be at the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
Jay Patrick Adamson was born on April 12, 1961, to Lyle Patrick and Dorothy LaVonne Adamson. Jay grew up on a farm south of Grand Junction. He attended East Greene High School and graduated in 1979. He started working at Binns Equipment when he was 16. He worked there until March of 1985 when he went to work for Van Wall Equipment in Perry. He worked there for 33 years, and he made many lasting friendships during his John Deere days.
In 1985, Jay met his wife Cindy, and they were married July 30,1988. They built their dream home on an acreage northeast of Jefferson. They were blessed with two children, Mady and Macaulay, which he thought the world of. Jay and Cindy would be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary at the end of the month.
Jay loved his family most of all. He never missed any of his kids’ activities. He especially loved watching them play sports. He followed in his dad’s footsteps loving John Deere and Ford. Jay also had a love of motorcycles, going fast, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Chicago Cubs. Jay and Cindy enjoyed traveling together on their motorcycle and family vacations.
Jay lost his hard fought battle with cancer on July 19, 2018, in Jefferson, surrounded by loved ones.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy and their children, Mady and Macaulay, all of Jefferson; brother Jim (Janet) Adamson of Panora; sisters Janet (Richard) Kennedy, Judy (Roger) Wessling, and Jill (Craig) Brelsford all of Grand Junction; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Pat and Dorothy Adamson, and his nephews Kriss and Kreg Hoskinson.
