The children’s department at the Jefferson public library will be closed next Monday when RAGBRAI® overnights in Jefferson, but the rest of the library will be open from 10 am to 10 pm to serve visitors.
The library will offer:
• Internet access (15 minute time limit, no reservations for computers);
• Wireless internet access (no time limit);
• Air conditioning and restrooms;
• A napping room in the basement meeting room;
• Charging stations for electronic devices;
• Free ice water & popcorn; and
• Information and answers to visitors’ questions.
The library parking lot will not be accessible Monday and Lincoln Way and N. Vine St will both be closed. To minimize inconvenience to regular library patrons, no items will be due and no overdue fines will be charged for July 23. The children’s department will be closed.
Patrons need not call the library that day to renew items. Library director Jane Millard encourages patrons to plan ahead for what they’ll need – books, movies, children’s items, internet access, FAX and photocopies, magazines, etc.
The library will re-open Tuesday, July 24, at 11 am.
“We want to say a special ‘Thank You’ to our patrons for their patience as we strive to provide exceptional service to the RAGBRAI riders that day,” Millard said. “We also want to thank all the volunteers and Friends of the Library who will be helping us staff the library on July 23. We couldn’t do it without you.”
