Gina Brown will represent Greene County at the Iowa State Fair queen contest next month. Gina was selected from a field of six candidates as the Greene County Fair queen Friday.
She will begin her senior year at Greene County High School in August. She is an 8-year member of the Greenbrier 4-H club, a 2-year member of the 4-H Young Leaders, and a 3-year member of FFA.
She is also a member of the National Honor Society. The contestants answered questions drawn from a jar as part of the contest. To a question of her proudest accomplishment in high school, Gina answered she is most proud of being inducted into NHS because of the high academic standard and the personal traits required of members.Gina is the daughter of Doug Brown and Teresa Brown and lives in rural Jefferson.
Along with the honor of representing Greene County at the State Fair, Gina won a $500 college scholarship donated by Humboldt Mutual Insurance, with local agents at Kingsgate Insurance. Humboldt Mutual is providing similar scholarships in all eight counties in which it has customers.
Other queen contestants were Emily Bettey, Emily Finch, Samantha Hardaway and Regan Lamoureux, all members of the Greene County class of 2018, and Kara Reed, a member of the class of 2019.
Judges for the contest were Beta Tau Delta members Sandra Drewry, Lyn Koppen and Carol Ahrenholtz. Fair board member Ann Cunningham is superintendent for the contest.
