Many area United Methodist churches are saying goodbye to their pastors and welcoming a new face into their churches.
From Perry, First, Rippey and Fairview, Paul Burrow will be adding Minburn onto the towns he is serving, while still preaching at his previous appointments. Also from Perry, Rosa Soto will not be appointed after serving in Perry, First and as an associate for the Hispanic Ministry in Rippey and Fairview.
Catherine Stokes is moving from secular to Perry, First-Minburn-Rippey-Fairview and will be an associate.
Beverly Marshall-Goodell is beginning her retirement after serving in Panora.
Robyn Plocher who had been serving Plainfield, will now be in Panora, while her husband, Terry Plocher, previously serving Reinbeck, will preach in Carroll and First.
Another change is Karen Patrick who has left the Bagley, Yale, Linden, Dawson, Cooper and Bayard churches. She will now be serving the ABM Parish, which is the church for Avondale, Bridgewater and Massena.
A new pastor has not yet been assigned to the Bagley, Yale, Linden, Dawson, Cooper and Bayard area, but for now Gary Hansen will take over. He is a certified lay minister and has been assigned to the Hope Parish UMC for many years.
Larry Monthei will be moving from Bagley and associate for Yale, Linden, Dawson, Cooper and Bayard to secular.
These 2018/2019 appointment changes were released by Bishop Laurie Haller and the Cabinet on June 20.
