Ram senior pitcher Ben Wilkins started the baseball season May 24 in Perry, pitching the entire game and allowing only two hits. The Rams won 2-1.
The Blue Jays scored in the fourth inning. Senior Wade Adcock tied the score in the sixth with a home run to centerfield. It was Adcock’s first home run.
In the seventh inning Adcock drew a walk with two outs and no one on base. He made it home on a long Bryce Hoyle double that hopped to the right center fence.
The Rams had a total of five hits for the game. Wilkins struck out nine Blue Jays and walked four. He retired the last six batters and the game ended as he was nearing the 110 maximum pitch count allowed in a day.
Perry had two hits in the fourth inning, their only hits for the game. The Perry run was unearned.
This is John Hupp’s first year as head baseball coach for the Rams. Hupp played high school ball for the Rams, graduating in 2007.
