Several Jefferson Elks were front and center at the Elks Association state convention April 27-28.
Jefferson Elk Les Fister, past state president from 2010, installed Bill Berger, also of Jefferson Lodge 2306, as the state president for 2018-19. Berger’s slate of officers includes Steve Smith as sergeant at arms and Cliff Said as state chaplain.
Berger is the fourth member of the Jefferson lodge to serve as state president. He joins past state presidents Ed Stoline (deceased), Steve Brown and Fister.
Berger presided at the Saturday evening banquet. The banquet program included presenting awards, and Fister received the high honor of being named “Iowa State Elk of the Year.”
“Many kudos go to our officers and members for the things they do in the name of fidelity, justice, brotherly love and charity,” said Joyce Fister, lodge secretary.
