The Greene County girls golf team placed second in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference golf meet Thursday at the Jefferson Municipal Golf Course. The meet was scheduled for Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone but was moved to the Jefferson course on short notice due to a delayed construction project.
Rachael Danielson was runner-up medalist with an 82. Britta Snyder of Gilbert was medalist with a 4-under par 68. Ellie Madson placed seventh with her career-best round of 91. Serenity Blair shot a 104 and Mariah Block shot a 113 to fill out the team score. Kaitlyn McColley shot 116.
Gilbert won the meet with a 336. The Rams’ team score was 390. “I am really proud of the progress we have made as a team,” coach Heath Telleen said. “Three-ninety is a great score for 18 holes and we shattered the team low we shot last week. Gilbert is a state champion quality team. It was fun seeing the best golfer in the state of Iowa play at our course.”
Other team scores were PCM 392, South Hamilton 399, Roland-Story 401, and Nevada and North Polk tied at 431.
Telleen thanked Micah and Dave Destival for helping set up the meet on short notice and said the course was “in great shape.”
