All are invited for homemade ice cream and dessert Sunday, April 22, from 2 to 4 pm at the Grand Junction Presbyterian Church. The sweet afternoon is hosted by Diane Wise as a fundraiser for the Iowa Donor Network.
Serving ice cream and dessert is much easier than the fundraiser Wise is undertaking in July. She’ll ride RAGBRAI® with a team from the Iowa Donor Network, speaking along the way on behalf of organ donation and raising money for the cause.
Ten years ago this July, Wise donated her right kidney to a young man who had been undergoing dialysis for two years. With his new kidney, he has been able to move forward to marriage, twins, and a new normal.
Wise has also continued her life in the same manner as before the donation, with no side effects. That includes riding RAGBRAI several times.
This is the first year the Iowa Donor Network has used RAGBRAI as a way to share its important message.
