The Greene County speech team earned “1” ratings on seven events at the state individual speech contest at Nevada High School March 10. Students are judged by a panel of three at the state contest. Josey Weaver received 1 ratings from all three judges for her prose event. Natalie Payan received straight 1s on her literary program and her poetry.

Elementary spring program set for March 29
“Choose Kindness and Respect” is the theme for this year’s Greene County Elementary spring program for grades 1-4. The program will have a different format than in years past. Grades 1-2 will perform at 10 am and at 6 pm. Grades 3-4 will perform at 1:30 and 7:15 pm. All performances will be in the middle school gym.

Greene County recorder Marcia Tasler was honored with a certificate Monday morning recognizing her 40 years of service to the county. The certificate, provided by the Iowa State Association of Counties, was presented by county supervisor Dawn Rudolph. Tasler has been county recorder for 31 years, assuming that office Jan. 1, 1987. She is running for re-election in November.
