Emergency Management coordinator Dennis Morlan invites all who are interested in the weather to a free storm spotter class Thursday, April 5, at the Grand Junction Community Center. The class will begin at 6:30 and last until 8 or 8:30 pm.
Instructors for the class will be National Weather Service meteorologists. They’ll explain weather events like rear-flank downdrafts, and they’ll share the best way to report spotting a funnel cloud and the safest relative position from which to observe a SuperCell thunderstorm.
Anyone interested in the weather and public safety officials should plan to attend. The weather spotter class is held in Greene County only once every two years.
Persons who want more information can contact Morlan at 515-386-4404 or email gcems@netins.net
