To the editor,
We are very fortunate in Greene County to have multiple industrial companies that provide jobs which contribute many times over the initial payroll back to the community. Several of these companies reside in the outlying municipalities and support the rural communities. Scranton Manufacturing, as one of those businesses, has been fortunate to experience significant growth with over 300 employees.
In Greene County with an unemployment rate below 3 percent, this brings up the conversation of, if we continue to grow, will the employees be there not only next year, but in five, ten, or even twenty years to fill the positions at Scranton Manufacturing as well as other organizations in Greene County?
The proposed improvements to the Greene County Schools with the combined Career Academy are a critical step toward securing the future of our county in order to attract new businesses as well as support the growth of our existing organizations.
In the workplace, I frequently make the statement that “Hope is not a plan”. We need to plan for our future to be the exception and to be a rural community with a growing, thriving population. Please vote YES on April 3rd.
