Jefferson Matters: Main Street held its annual volunteer appreciation party on Wednesday to thank the 50+ volunteers who are regularly involved in the program.
Each of the five committees honored those who stood out in the past year and were recognized at the event. The Jefferson Matters: Main Street 2017 Leadership Award was also presented by president Jamie Daubendiek to Roger Aegerter.
Aegerter is a member of the Tower View Team who works tirelessly to help the TVT’s mission of bringing public art to the downtown through rooftop art, Ring Out for Art sculptures, painted pianos, alley projects. He also as one of the chair people of the HomeTown Teams Smithsonian exhibit that will be housed at the Greene County Historical Society for six weeks starting Aug. 11. Aegerter is quick to give an enthusiastic yes to anything that needs to be done and Main Street appreciates it.
Karen Lawton of the design committee recognized the Empty Window Display team of Mikki Schwarzkopf, Susan Fray and Becci Hamilton for their creative work in making empty windows look attractive.
Deb McGinn of the promotion committee recognized Shirley Stapleton for her involvement in all of the promotions such as the cash mobs, Main Street Minute activities and HomeTown Teams window displays. McGinn also honored Shelly Berger for the Tower View Team for her work on the Patches of Greene rooftop art and work in Sally’s Alley as well as other projects of the group.
Ethan Murray of the economic vitality committee recognized Amanda Bills for her involvement in many of the projects for this group such as Java & Juice, time at work sessions, and ideas to draw businesses to town.
Carol Ahrenholtz of the organization committee recognized Nancy Teusch for her efforts in the annual investment drive, coordinating the Pizza Ranch fundraiser, and even coordinating the volunteer recognition party. Without the work of these many hands, Jefferson’s downtown would not be what it is today.
The theme for the event was “3 Cheers for Our Main Street Team”. The Greene County High School cheerleaders welcomed all with a spirit tunnel and led three cheers for the group before the recognition. The event was held at Meythaler Photography on the downtown square. Refreshments were provided by the organization committee with a tailgate theme.
