4-H members participated in a presentation by Samantha Hardaway in which both the new and experienced members were able to learn more about 4-H. This 4-H Bingo was enjoyed by the new members including Becca Anderson, Aden Bardole, Kaitlyn Halterman, Kaleah Messer, Colton Mobley, Dustin Nordin, Sadie Shannon, and Cayden Stream. As each topic was drawn, veteran 4-H members told of their experiences in 4-H.
The club also learned about livestock judging contests from Kara Reed, and the 6-Story Museum in Dallas, TX, where John F. Kennedy was shot, from Gina Brown. Conner Allender did a presentation on their Scottish Highland cattle, and Cody Stephenson did one on the history of the NFL.
The meeting was held Feb. 12, 2 at 7 pm at the Greene County Extension office. Members were reminded that they must attend five 4-H meetings to be able to show at the Greene County Fair. And they were also reminded to watch the 4-H newsletter for important announcements throughout the year.
The Greene County Young Leaders are sponsoring a Hot Chocolate Hustle 5K run/walk on Saturday, Feb. 24. Check-in is at the Greene County Fairgrounds at 8 am with the race starting at 9 am. The cost is $25 until Feb. 14, and then $35 until race day. The Young Leaders want the proceeds to benefit their Greene County Fairgrounds.
President Samantha Hardaway discussed FSQ or YQCA training for 4-H members that want to show animals at the fair. The first FSQA training will be Thursday, Feb. 22, from 6 to 8 pm. The new YQCA will be held Saturday, March 24, from 9 to 11 pm. 9:00 – 11. The cost is $3.
The Greenbrier County Basketball Tournament will be held Sunday, March 11, at the Scranton Community Center. All 4-H clubs were welcomed to join in the yearly fun. Members signed up for individual responsibilities.
The next Greenbrier 4-H meeting will be Monday, March 12, at 7 pm, at the Greene County Extension office.
