In Greene County district court Margaret Jessica Ruth Wilson, 41, of Cherokee was sentenced Feb. 8 to two years in prison after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine- second offense. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation for two years. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete the recommendations at her own expense. Her driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. Wilson was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. She must also pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DRE). The judge waived restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees because it would cause financial hardship. Court costs were $100. A companion case in magistrate court in which Wilson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Brayden Michael Habben, 18, of Grand Junction was granted a deferred judgment Feb. 6 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- first offense. He was placed on informal probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommendations at his own expense. Habben must pay a $315 civil penalty and a $125 LEI. The judge waived restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees because it would cause financial hardship. Court costs were $100. Charles Samuel Wolf, 43, of Jefferson was sentenced Feb. 5 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury. All but seven days of the prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serve. He must also complete a batterers education program at his own expense. Wolf was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Roxanne Kay Malone, 47, of Grand Junction has fined $100 with a $35 surcharge after she pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment- third degree, amended from domestic abuse assault- second offense. The judge ruled she is unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $91.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Jonathan Rosado, 26, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- first offense; and Rob Jonathan Herridge, 23, of Jefferson, child endangerment, possess marijuana with intent to manufacture, deliver or possess, and possession of marijuana- first offense. Trial dates were set for April 3.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Devonte Tindell Edwards, 19, of Grand Junction has been charged with possession of marijuana- first offense.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Lucas Fulton Ausberger, 18, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana- first offense; Michael Ivan Venteicher, 60, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine- first offense; and Bent Edward Bast, 46, of Jefferson, driving while license barred.
