Students in grades 3-12 at Paton-Churdan and 7-8 graders at Greene County used the Sierra Community Theatre as their classroom Friday.
The theatre hosted a special showing of the movie, “Wonder.” The movie is based on the bestseller of the same name by R.J. Palacio, and tells the story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who leaves the “safety” of homeschooling and enters an elementary school for the first time in fifth grade.
“The movie helped us make connections to our recently adopted Collective Commitments, which are shared beliefs about expected behavior at school and beyond,” Greene County middle school principal Shawn Zanders said.
Fundraising proceeds were used to pay admission for the students.
Greene County 5-6 graders will have their turns at the movie on Monday.
