Rockets end season with loss in first district game

The Paton-Churdan boys basketball team ended the season at 10-11 overall after losing in the first round of district play Thursday night to the Algona Golden Bears in Algona. The Rockets were ahead 14-11 after one quarter but trailed 28-23 at halftime, The Golden Bears scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter, putting the Rockets behind 44-27.  The final score…

Two candidates in school election

Two candidates will face off for the seat vacated by Ashley Johnston on the Greene County Schools board of education. Steve Fisher of rural Jefferson and Matt Wetrich of Jefferson filed nominating papers for the special election March 14. The winner will serve the remainder of Johnston’s term, which expires in September 2019.
