In Greene County district court Kimberly Ann Mustang, 38, of Des Moines was sentenced to two days in jail Nov. 28 after she pleaded guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation she has already undergone and she must complete a community college drinking drivers school.
Mustang was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). The judge ruled she is unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Austin Matthew Moon, 22, of Ogden was sentenced to 60 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI- first offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended, and he may complete a DMACC 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He was placed on informal probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must also complete a community college drinking driver’s school. Moon was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. A charge of possession of marijuana- first offense and a charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. Court costs were $100. Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Christopher Hollis Christian, 37, of Ames, driving while license barred; Russell Carnes, 51, of Grimes, domestic abuse assault- second offense; James Kenneth Harris, 30, of Woodward, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Hanna Kristine Meinecke, 30, of Lakewood, CO, possession of marijuana- first offense.
