The Ram varsity girls basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with a pair of wins against the non-conference Ogden Bulldogs and Perry Jayettes.
The Rams made the short drive east to Ogden Monday and came home with a 46-35 victory.
The Rams used eight unanswered points late in the second quarter to turn the tide, going from a two point deficit, 20-18, to a six point lead, 26-20, at halftime.
Senior Laurin Lyons scored 16 points and made the only 3-point basket of the game. Sophomore Bailey Cunningham scored 10 points, senior Onica Delp made six points, senior Samantha Hardaway made five points, sophomore Izzy Bravard scored four points, senior Ashley Millard scored three points and sophomore Kassie Lamoureux scored two points.
Delp and Millard had seven rebounds each and Lyons had six.
The Rams hosted Perry Tuesday evening and claimed a 63-52 victory. The Jayettes dominated in the first quarter and were ahead 19-6 at the end of the quarter. The Rams reduced turnovers in the second quarter and pulled to within one point, 32-32, at intermission. The Rams were p 46-39after three quarters and had a lead as large as 11 points during the fourth quarter.
Lyons again led the Rams ins scoring with 21 points. Hardaway had 11 points, sophomore Kassie Lamoureux had nine, Cunningham had eight, Delp had seven, Millard added four and Bravard had three points.
Lyons led in rounds with 12 and Delp had nine.
The girls start their Heart of Iowa campaign against the Gilbert Tigers in Jefferson Friday.
