Jefferson Telecom is sponsoring a scavenger hunt in Jefferson on Saturday, Oct. 7, from 9 to 11 am. All proceeds raised will support Shop with a Cop, a local cause for the holidays.
Shop with a Cop was started three years ago by the Greene County Peace Officer Association. Jefferson police captain Heath Enns explains, “Shop with a Cop originated due to a need in the community to help children and their families be able to enjoy the holidays for those less fortunate. Monies raised throughout the year are put into a fund to help 12 to 5 children purchase gifts for their family. The day spent with the children is truly heartwarming as we, as law enforcement, spend the day shopping locally with the child and in hopes of raising their spirits.”
Shop with a Cop is an effort put on by the Jefferson police department, Greene County sheriff’s office, and the Iowa State Patrol. An account has been established at Home State Bank for Shop with a Cop.
To participate in the scavenger hunt fundraiser on Oct. 7, call Jefferson Telecom at 515-386-4141 to form your team of four. A registration fee of $100 is required for your team with the proceeds benefitting Shop with a Cop. A mobile application will be utilized for the scavenger hunt with clues and tasks in downtown Jefferson to complete by taking photos or videos. The winning team will receive $200 in Greene County Chamber Checks.
All donations are appreciated to help Shop with a Cop for the holiday season.
