Good news on enrollment, too
Paton-Churdan principal Annie Smith reports that P-C was the highest achieving school in both math and science out of all 40 schools in the Prairie Lakes AEA for the 2016-17 school year, according to a report prepared by the Iowa Department of Education’s Edlnsight reporting system*.
The report looks at the assessment results from students in grades 3 through 8 and 11th grade. The data showed 87.96 percent of P-C students were proficient in math and 91.67 percent proficient in science.
Paton-Churdan was seventh in reading and third overall, but only .76 percent separated the top rated Harris-Lake Park schools from Paton-Churdan. P-C’s overall rating was 87.04 percent proficient in the three core subjects. “We could not be more proud of our students and staff,” Smith said.
Smith is also excited to say that as of Sept. 18, enrollment has increased by 16 students year-to-year. On Sept. 18, 2016, there were 12 students in 4-year-old preschool and 199 students in K-12. On the same date this year, there were 20 students in 4-year-old preschool and 207 students in K-12.
