The Ram cross country team traveled to Story City for the Roland-Story Norseman cross country invitational Thursday. In very warm and humid conditions the girls placed eighth and the boys placed 13th.
Coach Jeff Lamoureux said he was pleased with the effort his runners gave under “not ideal conditions for running. “We had a few PRs, so I know we are getting faster as a team,” he said.
Sophomore Bailey Cunningham finished first among the Rams in the girls race in 14th place with a time of 23:02. Kassie Lamoureux was in 23rd place with a time of 23:53, and Conner Allender was in 41st place with a time of 25:15. Other times were Regan Lamoureux 25:56, Izzy Bravard 27:49, Ashlee Harmeyer 27:51, Emily Hofer 28:13, Tieryn Tucker 28:28, Emily Bettey 31:38, and Kristen Lamoureux 33:53.
Girls team scores were North Polk 22, Madrid 99, Bondurant-Farrar 114, Roland-Story 134, Ogden 149, Southeast Valley 154, Greene County 156, South Hamilton 194, Kuemper Catholic 228, Colo-NESCO 240, and West Central Valley 260.
In the boys race, freshman Luis Velaszco was the first Ram to cross the finish line in a time of 19:46, good for 53rd place. Garrett Tasler was right behind him in 19:48, 54th place. Other times were Nic Killion 21:46, Brian Hardaway 24:14, Josh Ewalt 27:27, and Anthony Tolsdorf 29:05.
Boys team scores were Bondurant-Farrar 58, Madrid 99, Woodward Academy 106, Roland-Story 116, Webster City 137, Kuemper Catholic 137, South Hamilton 138, Ogden 152, North Polk 186, Saydel 264, West Central Valley 325, Southeast Valley 339, and Greene County 359.
