The Greene County girls cross country team finished second Aug. 31 at the Wild Cat Cross County Classic hosted by West Central Valley at the 5 X 80 golf course in Menlo. The boys finished in seventh place.
“I am very pleased by the progress made by all the Greene County runners,” coach Jeff Lamoureux said. “Several PRs were set and I see improvement all around.”
Three girls finished in the top 10. Sophomore Bailey Cunningham finished fourth in 22:28.85. Senior Haley Hall finished sixth in 23:27.74 and sophomore Kassie Lamoureux finished 10th in 23:55.87.
Other Ram times and places were Conner Allender, 24:42.07, 20th; Regan Lamoureux, 26:23.34, 34th; Izzy Bravard, 26:25.47, 35th; Tieryn Tucker, 30:57.38, 52nd; Emly Bettey, 34:09.52, 55th; and Kirsten Lamoureux, 34:46.13, 56th.
Panorama won the meet on the girls side with 18 points. Greene County had 55, West Central Valley had 89, Nodaway Valley was close at 93 points, and Exira-EHK had 110 points.
In the boys race Nic Killion finished 17th in 19:28.91. Garrett Tasler was close behind in 19th place with a time of 19:41.09. Brian Hardaway was in 40th place with a time of 22:14.52 and Josh Ewalt was 64th in 25:53.97. All the boys improved their times compared to the first meet a week earlier.
Dalton Butler of Paton-Churdan finished in 61st place with a time of 24:22.40.
Team scores in the boys race were Nodaway Valley 15; Panorama 69; Martensale- St Mary’s 105; Ankeny Christian 116; West Central Valley 132; and Interstate 35 134.
The next meet for the Ram and Rocket runners is the home meet at Spring Lake on Thursday.
