Tractor ride, park dedication, visioning display and community potluck
Details are being finalized for a big day in Scranton on Saturday, Aug. 19. The annual tractor ride is slated along with the dedication for the new park / playground equipment. An added attraction will be the viewing of the Community Visioning display.
The sixth annual Scranton Tractor Ride has trailer parking at Landus Cooperative. Registration is from 7 to 7:45 am at the Scranton Community Center, with a drivers meeting at 7:45. The vehicles will roll out at 8 am, taking a break at Willow Creek Custom east of Bayard.
The noon lunch (free will offering) and tour will be at Timber Creek Therapy between Guthrie Center and Panora. As the vehicles return to Scranton, there will be an afternoon break at Hunter Family Farms with hosts Brian and Joann Hunter.
Following the approximately 60-mile trip, the vehicles will return to Scranton between 4 and 4:30 pm. Persons who want more information can contact Jeff or Dawn Rudolph at 515-370-5605.
The dedication ceremony of the Scranton School Memorial Park at 900 Eagle Stand new playground equipment is planned at 4 pm. that day. The committee is working hard to have the equipment completed and to have the groundwork finished by that time.
The public is invited to view the results of the Community Vision effort in the Community Center from 4:30 to 6 pm.
The day will conclude with a community potluck meal from 5 to 6 pm. A hog is being roasted to be served with other side dishes.
