21st Century Rehab was recently awarded the Greene County school district’s sports medicine coverage contract for the upcoming school year. 21st Century Rehab also had the contract last year. Deb Morton, 21st Century Rehab director, noted, “We are proud to be involved in the local community by supporting the health and well-being of our student athletes.”
As was the case last year, the contract includes athletic coverage with a certified athletic trainer/physical therapist in attendance at home and away varsity football games and home JV football games. The contract also covers all other home varsity sports – volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball and track. It covers one home cross-country meet and one JV wrestling tournament.
New to the contract this year is home middle school football games and wrestling meets as well as the home varsity soccer matches, which is an estimated 22 additional events.
21st Century Rehab will continue offering its concussion prevention program by conducting pre-participation concussion baseline screenings for athletes. Staff will be adding baseline concussion testing for middle school and youth football athletes. Morton said, “We are working closely with Mitch Moore, Greene County Schools activities director, and the Greene County Youth Athletic Association in the implementation of the baseline concussion testing services.”
Morton reminds athletes and their families that 21st Century Rehab provides free first visits for any sports-related injury for any student athlete of Greene County. She said, “It is our mission to provide quality and professional healthcare for our athletic teams.”
