Hot August Night returns to the courthouse square and the surrounding Jefferson streets this Thursday, Aug. 10. All types of hot rods, trucks, motorcycles and tractors will be on display from 5 to 8 pm.
All vehicles that registered for the 2016 show, which was cancelled due to rain, are automatically registered for the 2017 show. Registrations should be picked up before 6:30 that evening.
A $200 cash prize will be awarded to the visiting car club that brings and registers the most vehicles. Exhibitors will vote for a “Participants Choice” award and one winner will also receive $25 in Chamber Checks. The winners will be announced at 7:30 pm.
In addition to viewing vehicles, the public is invited to enjoy ‘50s and ‘60s music and free watermelon donated by Fareway. Home State Bank will have complimentary cookies while supplies last.
The Greene County Chamber, Kiwanis Club of Jefferson and Hy-Vee will serve beefburgers, brat patties, chips and water from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. The BPO Does will also have homemade pie and ice cream available for purchase. The Gardens will sell root beer floats and the Aktion Club will sell popcorn.
A rain date has been set for Aug. 11.
