After more than two years of planning and fundraising, the goal of safe and appealing playground equipment in Scranton became reality this past week.
The $75,000 new Scranton School Memorial Park was constructed primarily by volunteers, with holes being dug on Thursday and crews working Friday and Saturday. According to Whitney Hoyle, a member of the committee, they were overwhelmed by the number of volunteers who spent hours Friday and Saturday building so kids can play.
The playground is located east of the Scranton Community Center where the former school playground was.
