Julie Porter, a Christian counselor with TEAM Restoration Ministries, will speak Wednesday, May 3, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson.
Her program, “Destination Praise: Joy from Sorrow,” will discuss how people react during times of loss and ways to navigate the ups and downs of life.
Porter has taught high school Spanish, worked in youth ministry, stayed home with her children, and done counseling. She was born in Iowa, but spent 25 years out-of-state at different duty stations with her husband, who has since retired from the United States Air Force. They returned to Iowa in 2013.
Porter’s presentation will be geared toward middle school and high school students. The event is free and open to the public.
