The Greene County Schools are implementing a new bus procedure for all PK-3 students who ride buses to the perimeter stops in Grand Junction, Jefferson, Rippey and Scranton. According to superintendent Tim Christensen, the intention is to enhance the safety of the students.
Beginning Thursday, March 23, every PK-3 student who rides to a perimeter stop will be given a card listing his or her name and the stop where he is to get off the bus. The student must return the card to the driver as he gets off the bus. The cards will be given to the student each day as he leaves school, and a student cannot get off the bus without turning in his card to the driver.
If a student doesn’t have a card, the driver will contact the transportation department to verify the student’s destination before he is allowed to get off the bus.
