There was Hoops Hysteria galore at the Scranton Community Center on Sunday, March 12. 4-H members and leaders, as well as many relatives, friends and spectators enjoyed friendly games, with often hysterical antics on the court. It was the scene of the annual Greene County 4-H basketball tournament, hosted by Greenbrier 4-H club.
The teams found numerous ways to have fun playing which provided considerable entertainment for the crowd. “This is always a wonderful day that exemplifies the meaning of 4-H.” Greenbrier 4-H Leader, Linda Hedges said. “You can see all of 4-H’s life skills being applied, such as leadership, citizenship, communication, flexibility, just to name a few.”
Congratulations to Cedar Highland for taking the win at this single elimination tournament. Other 4-H teams participating were Hardin Happy Hustlers, Junction Food Producers, Cose Horse and Greenbrier. Special thanks to referees Chan Burkett and Dave Dideriksen, Josh Hedges and Ricky Stephenson at the scorer’s table, and support from People’s Trust & Bank Scranton and Shopko. The Greenbrier Club thanked those people, as well as Dawn Rudolf for her help and the use of the Scranton gym.
“Congratulations to all the 4-Hers that played with wonderful sportsmanship, making a great day for all participants and spectators,” Hedges said.
