Those Greene County Irishmen are at it again.
This St. Patrick’s Day is promising a fun, family-oriented celebration at St. Patrick historic church west of Churdan in Cedar Township (449 E Ave).
“Whether you are of Irish descent, or just wish you were on this day, all are welcome,” a committee spokesperson said.
Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Jeff Schleisman at 5:30 pm, followed by a fish fry. “This may sound mundane to some, but then maybe they haven’t heard the beautiful music of the talented descendants of the families that built this iconic building, accompanied by Lois Last on the historic pump organ,” the spokesperson said.
Following mass at about 6:30, a fish fry will be held in the newly remodeled Cedar Hall (church basement). The menu includes fish, baked potato, coleslaw, cookies and coffee, water and Irish souvenir beer for a free will donation.
Souvenir beer boxes and beer glasses will also be available for sale. While diners wait for a seat, a variety show will take place upstairs for entertainment. “So get your ‘green’ on and plan to join in on the festivities celebrating our patron Saint Patrick,” the spokespersons said.
