Greene County Schools voters in a special election today elected Steve Fisher of rural Grand Junction to serve on the board until the 2019 regular election.
Fisher received 350 votes (64.7 percent) while Matt Wetrich of Jefferson received 190 votes (35.1 percent). There was one write-in vote. Fisher carried every precinct.
The Grand Junction precinct, which includes Rippey, had the best voter turnout at 12.9 percent. Fisher won there by a margin of 123-16.
In the Jefferson precinct Fisher got 205 votes to Wetrich’s 158. Voter turnout was 9.55 percent.
In Scranton voter turnout was just 6 percent. Fisher received 22 votes and Wetrich got 16.
Results are unofficial until the board of supervisors canvasses the vote next Monday.
