The Junction Food Producers will defend their title at the annual 4-H basketball tournament Sunday, March 10, from 1 to 5:30 pm at the Scranton Community Center. Last year they topped the team from the Cedar Highland club in the championship game.

The Greene County Spirit Team has raised $940 for Relay for Life, and the girls may not be finished fundraising. All fall and winter Ram cheerleaders comprise the team. They held bake sales and earmarked a portion of the proceeds from the 2016 jersey auction for Relay for Life, team sponsor Deb Marquardt said.

The Jefferson Lions Club will serve its annual pancake supper Monday, March 13, from 5 to 7 pm at the Elks lodge. Take-outs will be available. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12. They’ll be available at the door.

Young cooks are invited to learn new skills and how to make delicious and nutritious food at Chef 4 a Day at the Greene County Community Center. A dietician or chef from the Jefferson Hy-Vee will lead the fun class Tuesday and Thursday, March 14 and 16.

DES MOINES – The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s State Climatology Office and the National Weather Service are recruiting volunteer precipitation observers across Iowa to participate in the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow network, known as “CoCoRaHS” (pronounced “KO-ko-rozz”).
