Letter to the community – Matt Wetrich

To the community,

Benjamin Franklin said “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest,” and I strongly agree with that statement which is why I have an interest in investing my time to being a part of the Greene County School Board.

I grew up in a home focused on education, as my mother was a school teacher. Although I have only lived in Jefferson for 10 years now, I come from a line of family from Grand Junction that worked at that school building.

My wife and I are both working parents and have a blended family of 6 young children, so I would represent that voice in this community. We have 3 children in this school district; we get to experience a different school district with our other 3 children, and I experience many different private and public school districts in my career as an environmental educator. I believe that my experience and views would be an asset to the Greene County school board.

Running a school is a very complex and intricate situation. From administration, to teachers, to infrastructure, to families, to legislation, there are innumerous complexities to running a successful school district.

Two of the important aspects I believe could use improvement in Greene County are celebrating our teachers, and creating a working partnership between families and their children’s education. Parents need to feel heard, included, and part of their children’s education. As a parent of three children in our school system, I will be a voice for families on the school board.

I would honored to have your vote on March 14, or you can vote now by stopping into the auditor’s office at the court house during their normal hours.

If you have any follow up questions you would like to ask me, please contact me at go_tweeting@hotmail.com
