In Greene County district court Christopher Hollis Christian, 36, of Grand Junction was sentenced to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommendations at his own expense. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge. The fine and surcharge were suspended. He must pay a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge. His driver’s license was revoked for 180 days.
Christian was also sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of driving while license barred. The sentences are consecutive and to a term in another drug-related Greene County case. The prison terms were suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He is to reside in a residential correctional facility until the maximum benefits are received. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. A judgment was entered for $140 court costs and restitution to be determined. A companion case in magistrate court in which Christian was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: James A. Hall, 54, of Grand Junction, fraudulent practice- second degree, gambling- false claim of winnings, and false reporting of financial transaction; Shawna Lynn Nepple, 34, of Jefferson, tampering with records, prohibited acts- obtain prescription drug by engaging in fraud/deception (three counts); Joseph Thomas Romeo II, 46, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness; and Eiddie Mun, 32, no home town given, gambling- false statement on application. Trial dates were set for May 9 in every case.
Cases were initiated during the week ending March 2 as follows: Michael Lee Carlson, 20, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated (OWI)- first offense; Jesse Ray Savka, 30, of Manning, OWI- first offense; Logan Wayne Grazier, 20, of Scranton, possession of marijuana- first offense; and Nathanael Nels Nielson, 31, of Jefferson, OWI- second offense.
