There will be a hunter safety training course offered Feb. 28 and March 2 and 4. The course, sponsored by the Greene County conservation board, is scheduled for 6:30 to 9 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. These will be held at the Milwaukee Road Depot in Jefferson. The class on Saturday will be located at Slininger Woods from 8 am to 4 pm. All three classes must be attended. Each participant is asked to bring a sack lunch on Saturday.
All persons born after Jan. 1, 1972, are required to have a certificate of completion of a hunter safety course before purchasing an Iowa hunting license. Minimum age for the course is 12 and there is no cost.
The Iowa DNR now requires students to register for this class online. Go to the Iowa DNR website and find the Hunter Education link. This will lead you to the Greene County upcoming class. This site will show time and location and a “register now” link. Persons who have trouble finding the link can contact Dan Towers at 515-386-5674.
