The basketball season ended Saturday for the Greene County girls team with a 67-26 loss to the Kuemper (Carroll) Knights in the Class 3A Region 8 opening round in Carroll.
The Rams were down 21-4 after one quarter and 43-17 at halftime. The score was 57-23 after three quarters. The Rams mustered only three points in the final quarter.
Junior Laurin Lyons scored eight points and senior Hannah Promes scored six. Freshmen Bailey Cunningham and Kassie Lamoureux scored three points each, and senior Taylor Wessling and juniors Samantha Hardaway and Ashley Millard added two each. The Rams made nine of 41 shots for 22 percent shooting from the floor. They were nine for 15 at the free throw line for 60 percent.
The Rams were coached by Dean Lyons. They finished the season with a 4-18 record. The Knights are 13-8 as they move on to play Gilbert in the Region 3 second round Feb. 15.
