The Paton-Churdan girls basketball team got their second win of the season, topping the Ar-We-Va Rockets 35-17 in Westside Friday.
Ar-We-Va scored just one point in the first quarter while coach Tom Kennedy’s P-C team scored nine. The visitors went scoreless in the second quarter and the score was 9-5 at intermission. P-C put up 12 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth quarter while Ar-We-Va scored six points in both the third and fourth quarter.
Megan Carey and Jenna Beyers scored 13 points each. Carey was three of five from 3-point range. Beyers was the only P-C player to get to the free throw line; she made three of seven shots. Grace Geisler scored five, including a long basket, and Birana Jewett and Kyla Beyers scored two points each. Geisler led in assists with four.
As a team P-C made 10 of 43 2-point shots for 23 percent and four of nine 3-point shots for 44 percent, going 27 percent from the floor. The home team shot at just 12 percent.
The Rockets travel to Woodbine Monday night.
