Winners in recent VFW contest read their entries at a VFW District 6 meeting Jan. 14 hosted by Post 9599 in Jefferson. About 40 persons attended the district meeting.
Cassidy Christensen, a student at Glidden-Ralston High School, placed first in the district and third in the state in the Voice of Democracy competition.
Greene County Middle School student Avery Walker placed second in local competition in the Patriot’s Pen essay contest. Her essay was sent to district competition and she placed first at that level.
