A Jefferson man was killed in a two car collision that occurred at 7:52 am today on Highway 30 near Beaver, four miles east of Grand Junction.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Jacob R. Vreugdenhil, 20, of Grand Junction was westbound driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala near B Ave in Boone County when he drifted over the center line and struck Thomas Lee Hagar, 50, of Jefferson, who was eastbound driving a 2016 Nissan NV200 van. Their vehicles collided head on.
Hagar was pronounced dead at the scene. Vreugdenhil and Lesa D. Llewellyn-Hagar, 57, of Jefferson were injured and transported to Boone County Hospital by Boone County EMS. All three persons were wearing seatbelts.
