The Paton-Churdan girls basketball team lost Saturday afternoon basketball to the West Harrison Hawkeyes in Mondamin by a 59-48 score. It was only the second win this season for the Hawkeyes, while the Rockets are still looking for a “W”.
The Rockets were up 17-13 after one quarter and held a one point lead, 32-31 at halftime.
Jenna Beyers and Grace Geisler each scored 19 points. Geisler made four 3-point baskets, one 2-point basket and five free throws for her total, while Beyers made seven 2-point shots and five free throws. Kyla Beyers and Ty Smith each scored four points and Briana Jewett scored two. Starter Megan Carey did not play.
As a team the Rockets shot at 31 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the free throw line. The Hawkeyes shot at 36 percent from the floor and an impressive 65 percent from the charity stripe.
The Rockets committed 26 turnovers while the Hawkeyes committed 31.
