Sixth grade outdoor classroom at Squirrel Hollow

Sixth graders from Greene County, Paton-Churdan and Coon Rapids-Bayard, congregated at Squirrel Hollow Park Thursday, May 12, to learn about nature and conservation. There were nine mini-courses beginning at 9:30 am, with topics including soils, bees, timber wildlife, Iowa trees, native birds, monarch butterflies, gun safety, grasslands and birds of prey.

Rams’ Danielson to state golf meet

Greene County sophomore Rachael Danielson was medalist at the Region 1 Class 4A final golf meet held at the Carroll Country Club Monday. Danielson shot an 84 for the 18 holes. A trio of Greene County woodworking students competed at the South East Polk Expo May 13. Sophomore Charles Gunn and juniors Collin Kirkland and George Zito each earned an “Outstanding” rating in complexity of project and quality of workmanship, an overall rating of “Outstanding” in their division and each earned second place in Division III – material processing in woodworking.

Ham balls Memorial Day in Grand Junction

All are invited to a ham ball dinner Memorial Day, May 30, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction. Serving will be from 11 am to 1 pm.
