Greene County magistrate court, week ending June 3
In Greene County magistrate court a judgment was entered June 1 against Ronnie Neal of Marshalltown on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge. He must also pay restitution of $180 for his court appointed attorney’s fees.

In Greene County district court the week ending June 3 persons pleaded not guilty as follows: James Harold Doran, 48, of Paton, assault causing bodily injury; Delbert Thomas Davis, 38, of Earlham, driving while license barred; and Jonathan Mitchell Cole, 19, of Des Moines, operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. Trial dates were set for July 26 in every case.

FIFTY Fest, the 37th annual Bell Tower Festival, will again include an old-fashioned spelling bee hosted by the Greene County Historical Society. This year’s spell-down is slated for Saturday, June 11, at 2 pm at the Greene County Community Center. Trophies will be awarded to first and second place winners and everyone will receive a ribbon.
