Greene County district court, week ending June 3

In Greene County district court the week ending June 3 persons pleaded not guilty as follows: James Harold Doran, 48, of Paton, assault causing bodily injury; Delbert Thomas Davis, 38, of Earlham, driving while license barred; and Jonathan Mitchell Cole, 19, of Des Moines, operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. Trial dates were set for July 26 in every case.

The tradition continues at Pleasant Hill

A decades-long tradition continued at Pleasant Hill Church in Grant Township with the Memorial Service last Sunday and a meeting of the board of directors of the Pleasant Hill Memorial Chapel Corporation. The service, as in more years than most people can remember, featured Wallace Teagarden reciting Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.

Last Monday, Memorial Day, was the first 90-degree day in Jefferson this summer. According to KCCI’s SchoolNet  website, the high temperature for the week ending June 3 was 91 degrees on Monday.
