Jefferson hadn’t yet stepped into the deep freeze as of Jan. 8 when volunteer weather observer John Beltz ended his most recent reporting week. He reported a high temperature of 34 degrees and a low temperature of 7 degrees.  Precipitation totaled .33 inch, with .3 inch of snow and .27 inch of rain.

Norse sweep Rams in Jefferson

The Roland-Story Norsemen won both varsity basketball games in Jefferson Friday. The girls scored more than their season average points but lost to R-S, 50-27. The Rams scored five points in the first quarter and just eight in the first half. They were down 27-8 at halftime.  The score was 39-17 after three quarters.

Hours have been added at the H.F. and Maude E. Marchant Memorial Library in Scranton.
