Students at Greene County Elementary will have new books to read thanks to a donation of $1,000 from “Read with Me!”, a collaboration of KCCI-TV and EMC Insurance.
Along with the check came a dozen or so T-shirts in various sizes to use as incentives or at the school staff’s discretion.
KCCI’s Marcus McIntosh and Jeff Less of EMC Insurance visited the school Tuesday morning to make the check presentation. After a boisterous session that included selfies with the television personality, McIntosh read Snowmen at Night to the children.
A segment about the fun event is scheduled to air on KCCI’s 5 pm evening news this Friday, Dec. 9. Visit McIntosh’s Facebook page now to see pictures.
School staff member Wendy Vander Linden, the district’s talented and gifted coordinator, completed the application process for the funding.
According to KCCI’s website, KCCI and EMC insurance have provided more than $70,000 in funding in the “Read with Me!” program.
