2016 growing season winding down with warm, dry conditions
Minimal precipitation and warm temperatures allowed farmers to make progress towards harvest completion during the week ending Nov. 13, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service. Statewide there were 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork. Activities for the week included harvesting, baling corn stalks, tiling, terracing, hauling and spreading manure, and anhydrous application.

In Greene County magistrate court a judgment was entered Nov. 4 against Robert Alan Fry of Jefferson on a charge of assault. Fry was initially charged with domestic abuse assault- second offense. He was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge. He must also pay $300 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $156.50 court costs.
