Fareway Stores, Inc. is partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps on their 2016 Toys for Tots campaign. The program provides toys to less fortunate children during the holiday season.
Stores are selling paper trains in $1 and $5 increments, as well as collecting new, unwrapped toys at all 116 Fareway locations from Monday, Nov. 28 through Saturday, Dec. 24.
“We are proud to have partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 20 years on the Toys for Tots campaign,” said Fareway Stores, Inc. CEO Reynolds W. Cramer. “Our generous customers always go above and beyond to make this campaign successful and to help bring joy to underprivileged children.”
In Greene County, the Family Development Center relies on toys from the Toys for Tots program for its toy distribution.
In 2015, the U.S. Marine Corp reported that 16,961 children were served, 33,922 toys were distributed, and total campaign proceeds topped more than $156,000.
“We are thankful to Fareway for their partnership in the Toys for Tots campaign,” said Sgt. Diego Hurtado with the U.S. Marine Corps. “We look forward to another successful year in being able to help those less fortunate.”
