Jeff police chief seeks additional officer

The number of calls for Jefferson police and the number of criminal cases in Jefferson has increased enough to warrant adding a patrol officer, according to Jefferson police chief Mark Clouse. Clouse presented the need to the Jefferson city council Tuesday evening. The department currently has five patrol officers, chief Clouse, and captain Heath Enns.

Town hall meeting highlights development plans and challenges facing Greene Co schools, Chamber

Greene County Development Corporation will work to build a western Iowa tourism mecca, the Greene County Schools board is considering an April 4 bond referendum, and the Chamber board is viable and looking for help. The city of Jefferson could save hundreds of dollars in putting cemetery management software online thanks to the Greene County Genealogical Society. The city council at its Oct. 11 meeting approved the purchase of Grave Discover® for the two city-owned cemeteries.
