Roccie Hill, the much heralded director of the Greene County Chamber of Commerce who assumed her duties Sept. 1, has resigned effective Nov. 4.
According to Chamber president Ora Stevens, financial constraints on the Chamber led to her resignation.
Her resignation was not requested by the board and board members are disappointed by her pending departure.
At the Jefferson city council meeting last week, the city’s reimbursement of hotel/motel expenses from the hotel/motel tax fund to the Chamber was discussed. Chamber treasurer Nikki Uebel questioned some tourism-related expenses being reimbursed at 45 percent rather than a percent more reflective of the amount of tourism activities that occur within the Jefferson city limits.
Hill was in attendance at the council meeting. She submitted her resignation the next day.
The Chamber board is weighing options for staffing and a possible new direction.
