Dinner ticket checks should be made payable to the Jefferson Rotary Foundation, and either given to a Rotarian or mailed to Jefferson Rotary Foundation, Box 351, Jefferson, Iowa 50129. Ticket sales chair is Andy Harland at Don’s Ace Hardware in Jefferson.

“Join in the fun of this special charity event that benefits so many in Greene County and around the world,” said auction chair John Brunow. “Annually for the past 17 years, members of the Rotary Club of Jefferson have gathered donations from generous local businesses, area suppliers and Rotarians themselves to create an auction that truly benefits local community and worldwide Rotary projects.”

Since its inception the Jefferson Rotary auction has generated nearly $500,000 for many civic and charitable causes.

One of the auction’s highlight offerings will once again be an African tourism safari. Those who have purchased the safari in the past have offered high praise for their trip.

A wide variety of auction items will punctuate the evening: family vacation trips, weekend getaways for couples, theater and sporting event tickets, home decorating packages, food items of all kinds, sports and recreation equipment, locally-raised meat bundles, useful home and auto maintenance items, and much more.

Rotarians are also selling raffle tickets for at least eight $250 prizes to be drawn during the evening. The popular hog raffle will also take place. It is not necessary to be present for the raffles.

“There’s something for everyone at the auction,” said Brunow. “Combine the auction with a wonderful meal and the companionship of friends, and you have the perfect combination for a fun and entertaining evening. When you consider all the good that results from the proceeds, it’s just a great event.”
