The history of Greene County, as it’s been presented by the Historical Society in recent months, is the topic of an education series presented on Jefferson Telecom’s Channel 9 cablevision.
The series begins Sept. 30 and runs through Jan. 1, with most of the segments being Friday and Sunday. All segments start at 6 pm.
The series features video recordings of Historical Society programs including Bill Jameson’s program about the “Dollar-A-Day Boys” and the Civilian Conservation Corps, school re-organization in the county by Jack Lashier and Bob Schmidt, changes in farming by Bob and Joyce Ausberger, and circus promoter Yankee Robinson by Rick Morain.
Also included are video recordings of the opening ceremony of the 2016 Bell Tower Festival, including presentation of the Bell Tower of Fame award to Dean McAtee, and the cornerstone rededication ceremony at the courthouse last May.
A highlight will be a program of early pictures of Jefferson recorded by James H. Andrew before his death. That airs Dec. 23 and Dec. 25.
Jefferson Telecom thanked the Greene County Historical Society, the Jefferson public library and the late Jim Andrew for assistance in producing the videos.
